Zen Den Room Ideas That’ll Help You Relax In 2024
Looking for zen den home decor ideas to create your own sanctuary? Check out everything you’ll need to help you chill out and relax in 2024!
While reading my new favorite book Boundary Boss by Terri Cole she mentioned the importance of having a Zen Den. This is a sacred space that we all need and deserve. A place where you can go to take the time to go within and heal yourself.
A Zen Den should be a comfortable and relaxing environment free of distractions. It is meant to be your go-to space to practice mindfulness and be still. This sacred space will increase your productivity, lower your stress levels, and give you a restful night’s sleep.
Whether this space is used first thing in the morning, after a long day of work, or both it will bring you peace and joy.
If you have been thinking about creating a Zen Den in your home keep reading to find out how.
This post is all about Zen Den room ideas.

There are some things to consider when creating your Zen Den. This is a space that can be used for your yoga practice, meditation, reading, journaling, or a combination of these activities.
Your Zen Den will most likely evolve over time. It may start off being a space to light a candle and meditate but then lead into a yoga practice. The key to the Zen Den experience is learning to go within and be aware of the present moment.

Zen Den For Yoga
If you are creating a Zen Den for your Yoga Practice there are a few essentials you’ll want in your space.
First off you need a workout routine to follow if you are not creating your own.
My life changed when I made yoga a part of my daily life for the health benefits and the way it makes me feel. I no longer had to do crash diets before the summer or fast for 24 hours to kick-start my metabolism. Those habits are a thing of the past for me.
Around six years ago, I discovered Boho Beautiful. I follow their videos and practice like it’s a religion. About a year ago I joined their yearly subscription plan and follow the monthly videos they create.
This has been a game-changer. If you need an effective workout routine that is not long and painful check out the video below.
When I say not painful I mean there are short videos that are 10-20 minutes long but SUPER effective. That’s not to say you won’t feel the burn because I promise you will.

Now that you have a routine here are the essentials you’ll need in your Zen Den Yoga Studio:
- Thick Yoga Mat
- Yoga Mat Detox
- Bolster Pillow
- Yoga Block & Strap Set
- Full Body Towel
- Yoga Mat Towel
- Freedom Wheel
- Peace & Quiet Massage Ball Kit
- Yoga Bra
- Sports Running Shirt
- High Waist Amazon Yoga Pants
- Non-Slip Yoga Socks
This is everything you’ll need to get into your flow in your yoga practice.
Meditation Zen Den
Meditation is another practice that will change your life for the better. For many people, it’s HARD to start and stick with. In the beginning, it was difficult for me too.
The thing to remember is it’s a practice which means that you have to do it over and over to get better at it. Eventually, you will work yourself up to 20 minutes a day which is the goal.
When you’re a badass meditator you’ll be doing it morning and night. Yes, twice a day is the aim.
There will be many times during your day when you are stressed or triggered by your past emotions. If you can quiet your mind and learn to hear your intuition you’ll create a life beyond your wildest dreams.
Literally!
Side note: Every single person I admire in life meditates therefore I do too!

If you feel like it is not for you start off with just 5 minutes a day. Sit in stillness and go within. If you start to hear noise or have thoughts just say “breathe” or “ah hum” in your mind. This will help bring you back to the present moment.
Gradually add one more minute a week to your meditation time and you will be at 20 minutes before you know it.
Zen Den Accessories
Creating the atmosphere in your Zen Den is super important to set the vibe of the space. A great way to start off is with a gift set that includes a blanket, candle, and essential oils.
If you prefer to add things over time you’ll want to have candles, plants, and a diffuser for sure.
What is sage smudging?
A smudging kit is highly recommended for your Zen Den as well. If you are not familiar with this let me explain.
Smudging or saging is a way of clearing negative energy from your space. Depending on who used the space before and for what you will want to clear the air of negative energy. The goal is to welcome only positive energy and good vibes.
Burning sage is one of the oldest and purest methods of cleansing a person, group of people, or space to get rid of unwanted spirits.
Steps to Smudging Your Space
- Clean your space (this helps the sage travel better)
- Turn off all electronics (TV, radio, and you can silence your phone)
- Open a door and or window so the negative energy leaves your home
- Set an intention before you begin
- Light the sage and keep a vessel or small plate underneath
- Start at your front door and walk counter-clockwise around your space
- Start in the lowest part of your home and work your way up
- Fan the smoke using a feather as you move through your space
- Focus on corners as they tend to hold toxic negative energy
- After you are done light a candle and go through your space to bring in positive energy
As you walk through your space you want to ask the negative energy to leave. You can create your own mantra but this is what I like to say:
“Any energy that is negative and not of my greatest good get the f@*k out with love, you are not welcome to stay here. Please leave out the open door and window.”
Change that up to fit your own needs. It’s meant to give you an idea of what to say.
Room Decor Ideas
Lastly, you’ll want to think about your Zen Den home decor. Whether it’s with wall art, an area rug, or that fabulous swing chair you will want your space to be comfy and show your personality. Remember this space can serve multiple functions.
When you want to curl up with your favorite book the swing chair is perfect. If you enjoy meditating and finding stillness while sitting then the bench is for you. When you need a reminder of your Chakras that colorful wall art will help you out with that.
Then there is the greenery wall with the neon sign. I’m completely obsessed with this wall decor. It is so fun and perfect for creating “Insta” memories. It’s also an awesome way to bring greenery to your space.
You will find greenery walls in home decor from bedrooms to offices. They are great for yoga and meditation Zen Dens too. They can also be used for baby showers, birthdays, and weddings.
The possibilities are truly endless.
