Home Gym Equipment Ideas
As a result of the pandemic, many people had to get creative and set up at home gyms. Some turned the garage, basement, or spare bedroom into a home gym.
The first step in design planning was probably searching Pinterest for home gym ideas. You probably also looked for the best rubber flooring and at-home gym equipment ideas.
Once the gym flooring is picked out you can move on to the fitness equipment. This can be quite the process depending on the type of workouts you plan on doing.
When we went through this process we researched the best exercise equipment for our family. We all use the gym for different types of fitness. I use yoga equipment, my daughter light weights while my husband likes machines.
If you are looking for home gym equipment ideas you are in the right place. Check out all the resources and let me know if you have any to add to the list.
This post is all about home gym equipment ideas.

Before we begin, you should know the following. True transformation will come when you work out for how it makes you feel on the inside NOT how it makes you look on the outside.
True transformation will come when you work out for how it makes you feel on the inside NOT how it makes you look on the outside.nicole
I only learned this in my 40’s when I realized that consistently working out Every. Single. Day. is what gets you the results. Also, it is 80 percent what you eat and 20 percent the exercise.
That said you can work out for hours a day but if you eat crap, don’t drink water, or get enough sleep your metabolism won’t kick in. This has been my experience anyway.
So go within, listen to your body, and you will finally stick to that exercise routine. It works I promise.
These home gym equipment ideas are geared towards men and women so there are helpful resources for everyone.
With so many women powerlifting and doing weight training they use a lot of the same equipment as men.
My daughter is on an Acro and Tumbling team and they lift weights as part of their workout too. They have to so they build strength to lift other athletes
Now let’s get into the home gym equipment ideas.

1. Bowflex Max Trainer Series
The Bowflex machine combines the low-impact motion of an elliptical with the calorie-burning power of a stepper.
Great for burning calories while working multiple areas of the body. You’ll also be able to set target zone and burn rate goals that will keep you motived to achieve your goals.
2. Tower Dip Station Pull Up Bar
A multi-functional power tower that supports vertical knee raises, push-ups, dips as well as pull-ups, which help tone and target your arms, core, shoulders, chest, and back for a stronger upper body.
Love any machine that strengthens the core! The height of the pull-up bar can be adjusted depending on the size of the user.
3. Cycling Exercise Bike
This exercise bike has beginner basics to advanced workouts. For those who live in colder climates, this is a great option when you enjoy bike riding workouts.
I have so many friends that have purchased the Peleton bike and love it. Not everyone is ready for that level of commitment so this is the next best thing.
4. Reversible Mat
Even if your focus is strength training and lifting you still need to stretch your muscles. This mat is perfect on recovery days when you do a yoga workout instead.
If you are like me then this is the most important thing on your gym shopping list. Don’t skimp on your yoga mat because you need to protect your joints.
I personally like a thick yoga mat so my knees are protected throughout my workout.
5. Adjustable Bench
Having an adjustable bench will help you keep the proper form during your workout. This bench features 6 back positions & 4 seat positions for a full-body workout.
The beauty of this exercise equipment is the bench is foldable and easy to carry. You can store it away in the closet, under the bed, or corner after your workout is complete.
6. Weight Bench for Weight Training
If you prefer a stationary weight bench instead this is for you.
7. Slam Balls
Using a slam ball will help condition and define your muscles. A slam ball works your shoulders, triceps, pecs, calves, back, and core.
We love anything that strengthens and defines the core!
8. NordicTrack Treadmills
A thread mill activates more muscles, which contributes to building more lean muscle mass.
Perfect for runners who are in colder climates or if you like to watch TV while you exercise.
9. Hexagon Neoprene Coated Dumbbell
Every home gym needs a good set of dumbells. You can effectively gain muscle even when you train with light weights such as 10-lb. dumbbells.
10. Push Up Bars
Using a push-up bar will enable an extended range of movement during the exercise so you will be able to lower your body much further than a regular push-up.
11. Solid Olympic Bar
Olympic bars are heavier and thicker on the ends, which makes them far more stable than Standard Bars.
12. Dumbbell Storage Rack
To keep organized you will definitely need a rack to store your dumbbells.
13. Chin-Up Bar
We have had one of these in our doorway since we bought our home.
A chin-up bar is great to strengthen back, arm, and shoulder muscles. It will improve grip and overall body strength as well.
14. Soft Kettlebell with Handle
Adding a kettlebell to your at-home gym helps improve core strength and stability. It also enhances body awareness and coordination.
Perfect to help you build lean muscle.
15. Kettlebell Adjustable Portable Weight
For men or women who want to achieve their fitness goals working out at home, in the gym, or when traveling, Kettle Gryp is a lightweight, durable, and economical solution.
16. Adjustable Dumbbell
This adjustable dumbbell supports diverse strength training by changing different weights. The weight adjusts from 5 lb to 25 lb which is very convenient.
17. Dumbbells Free Weights
Research has shown that free weights help you to get stronger much faster than weight machines.
18. Gloves for Men and Women
While heavy lifting, your grip usually fails before your overall strength does due to either fatigue or clammy hands.
Wearing gloves is definitely the way to go when lifting.
19. Massage Muscle Recovery
Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique. It can help relieve muscle tightness, soreness, and inflammation, and increase your joint range of motion. Foam rolling can be an effective tool to add to your warm-up or cooldown, before and after exercise.
Even though using this roller can hurt sometimes push through the pain. Your sore muscles will thank you!
