How can I make my bathroom look vintage?
There are details in this design that are classic and timeless. I cover these in more detail below but here is a quick overview:
- Subway Tile
- Hex Tile (White with Black Accents)
- White Vanity
- Simple Color Palette
- Brass Accents
- Ornate Mirror
- Vintage Touches
What bathroom never goes out of style?
The classic black and white bathroom will never go out of style. Using white subway tiles with black and white hexagon tiles will have a timeless look that will last many years.
If you want to get the most from your remodel go timeless rather than trendy. There’s nothing worse than walking into an expensive bathroom remodel 10 years later and feeling like it’s dated or out of style.
Avoid this design dilemma by choosing timeless hard finishes that’ll stand the test of time. You can always update your bathroom decor, artwork, and accessories on a budget for an updated look.

One way to add a vintage touch to your updated bathroom is with lighting. The two wall sconces feature a gold base with cracked glass covers. The classic silhouette is both modern and classic.
The overhead lighting design is a crystal flush mount fixture with gold trim. Both fixtures tie back to the sophisticated look and feel of this elevated bath design.

Either of these gorgeous light fixtures will help to elevate your bathroom remodel.
Vintage Design Features
Adding vintage touches is another way to get the retro vibe in your bathroom. You can add a crystal gold doorknob for a touch of glam a la the Victorian era.
The ornate black mirror shown above features gold touches that highlight the vintage floral motif. If you are short on space a medicine cabinet may function better depending on your needs.

Vintage Bathroom Accessory Ideas
Vintage knobs are another design feature that adds interest, texture, and dimension to a classic white vanity.
5. Geofloral Knobs
6. Bistro Tile Vanity Tray
Accessories like the fun ring tray add personality and style to this simple design. Love the hex print in black and white with the touch of gold that ties back to the color scheme beautifully.
Vintage Faucet & White Vanity
Adding gold faucets, knobs, and accessories to a simple white bathroom vanity will create a focal point in your bathroom. The gold touches add a pop of color and interest to the design.
This waterfall bathroom faucet features a two-handle curved lever design for perfect temperature control. Add a touch of sophistication and a retro vibe to update your classic vintage bathroom.
This simple clean white vanity will add a modern touch to your bathroom design. If you are looking for a more traditional vibe go for the turned leg silhouette.
Vintage Bathroom Tile Ideas
Classic hexagon 1×1″ tile as shown above is one of the most inexpensive tile options on the market. The beauty of this tile is that you can create a pattern by adding black hexagon tile into the mix.
In our bathroom remodel we did a border in black that really elevated the look of the tile floor. This bathroom features a geometric diamond pattern on the floor and in the shower niche box.
The simple black and white design add so much personality and interest to the otherwise all-white tile floor.
The Bathroom Tile
9. White 4 in. x 12 in. Subway Tile
10. Black Hexagon Mosaic Floor Tile
Classic subway tiles are timeless but can have a modern look or traditional just by changing the grout color.
The tried and true subway tile is the 3×6″. If you go with the featured 4×12″ style the look and feel will be classic but current.
The stacked subway tile pattern creates a trendy vibe whereas the classic brick pattern is timeless. Either will look fabulous it’s just a matter of taste and preference.
I should add that the warm gray grout color will highlight the tile but has a classic look. Black grout will have a farmhouse modern vibe.
The white and black hexagon pattern is sold as a sheet of solid color. When adding the pattern using the black tile your installer will need to cut into the mesh backing to separate the sections. It sounds more complicated than it is… trust me!
The black and white tile floor is a super inexpensive way to create an elevated look on a budget.
If you have several projects going on or want leftover grout go for the Mapei warm gray premix grout. This way you don’t have to worry about getting the color right the next time you mix the grout.
The premix grout is perfect for storing extra for when you need it later.
Vintage Brass Details
The stunning gold rain shower head design and the handheld system is the star of the show against the simple subway tile design.
Just a little obsessed with the gold trim shower barn door that completely updates this classic bathroom design.
When shopping for a toilet we have found the elongated silhouette to be the most comfortable. Just thought I’d let you know in case you are a first-time toilet bowl shopper.
There is usually a short or elongated option so go long! Just my opinion in case you were wondering.
