So you have a small budget but big plans for your bathroom remodel. If this sounds like you then you are in the right place!
Even though you have a small bathroom it doesn’t mean it can’t have a big style. No matter your budget you can still make an impact.
When it comes to designing a bathroom remodel there are so many components to think about. One of the most important being a rockstar contractor who has your back.
Please do not go cheap when you are selecting your contractor! If you do I promise you WILL be sorry. That’s because what you save up front will cost you later when the work is shotty.
Now that we have that out of the way let me share a recent bathroom project that will help you save money!

When you have a small bathroom you can make it appear larger by keeping it light and bright.
In the feature bathroom remodel above the walls are painted in BM Chantilly Lace OC-65. This color is a pure white that is said to have no warm or cool undertones.
The subway tile is classic polished white. The floor is a timeless black and white hex pattern design. The mixed metal used in the fixtures and decor adds interest to another simple and clean bathroom design.
To add more interest to this neutral bathroom design any color can be added for an extra pop. The beauty of designing neutral rooms is you can accent with any color. Then if you get bored just change out the pop color.

In this post, I share the key components of this bathroom remodel minus any labor costs. This was part of a larger project but a typical price range (in long island NY) for contractor fees is between $6000-$8000.
Finish material costs are where things can get out of hand if you are not careful. I will share the cost that we paid for a general idea but your costs will depend on the products and materials you choose.
How can I make my bathroom look nice for cheap?

- Add cool luxury hardware
- Incorporate fun accessories
- Splurge on one thing
- Get creative
The image below is an example of using inexpensive tile but getting creative!
The Black and white hexagon floor has been around FOREVER. The possibilities you can create with this floor tile are endless.
You can even design a pattern with verbiage on the floor like this design. In the small bathroom remodel we did I created a border design that took the space to another level.
The beauty of the quartz niche box is there is a water-tight seal that you do NOT get when you use tile. Keep this in mind as you make your bathroom material selections.

Side Note: Plus labor which can be between $6000-$8000 depending on your area. If it’s your husband then that’s another story!
So it is safe to figure a small bathroom remodel will cost on average between $8000 on the very low end and $10000 on the higher budget range.
This is in NY so the labor costs in your area may be lower which would be amazing!
1. Chrome Towel Bar
We chose chrome in the fixtures to keep the cost down. The lines of this collection are modern and stylish which we love.
2. Chrome Toilet Paper Holder
Love the lines of this simple toilet paper holder. No need to go fancy here in my opinion but of course you could.
3. Chrome Towel Ring
Not every bathroom needs a hand towel hook but this one called for it. Since it’s a small bathroom makeover with limited counter space the extra holder is super helpful.
4. Exhaust Fan with LED Light
This can be used inside the shower area or right outside to help with the steam from your hot water. The beauty of this bathroom exhaust fan is it has a built-in light that serves double duty.
5. Gold Recessed Medicine Cabinet
If there is one area to splurge this is it. This large medicine cabinet is great for extra storage in a small bathroom. The gold trim colorway adds that touch of glam but it also comes in other colors if that’s not your jam.
You can never have too much storage so consider a bathroom medicine cabinet if it works in your remodel.
6. Farrer 30″ Single Bathroom Vanity Set
One of the cutest vanities in the 30″ size range and trust me we searched. It will ship with silver handles but those can be changed to gold or black if you prefer.
We changed the handles on our vanity to gold which elevated the look of the bathroom design. If you are looking for an inexpensive update this is it.
7. Widespread Bathroom Faucet
We love the lines of this faucet but to keep the cost as lost as possible we chose the chrome finish. Gold and black faucets are trending but they cost more so keep that in mind.
This faucet features a stylish silhouette that added interest to our bathroom remodel.
8. Pull Cabinet Handles Brushed Gold
We bought the set of four because the style of the hexagon handles was the perfect complement to the hex tile. The extra two can be used in another project or if the finish wears down.
We hope that won’t happen but just in case we have a backup set.
9. White 4 in. x 12 in. x 6mm Polished Ceramic Subway Wall Tile
Our tile was from my trade account with Tilebar but this is the same style that we have. Make sure you read the post White Subway Tile Dye Lot Color Variations (Buyer Beware) before you purchase.
We had an issue with our white subway tile that ruined to vibe of our Airbnb bathroom design. By the time we realized it was too late.
Be sure to read the post so you can avoid the costly bathroom remodel mistake.
10. 1″ x 1″ Hexagon Mosaic Floor Tile – White
Between two and three rows of the solid white pattern were used as the border in the floor and shower areas. Our hex tile was purchased from Floor & Decor so we could return the extra but this is the same thing.
11. 1″ x 1″ Hexagon Mosaic Floor Tile -Black
The solid black was used in between the solid white and black and white main tile pattern. This project was time-consuming for the installer (two days) but it was worth it!
12. 1″ x 1″ Hexagon Mosaic Floor Tile – Black & White
Where it all started. So this tile was bought first and then we stalked Pinterest for ideas on how to jazz it up. The end result is beautiful and Pinterest-worthy!
13. Mapei Flexcolor Warm Gray Grout
This grout is great because it is in a premixed tub. No need to worry about touch-ups since it will last in the container pre-mixed.
14. Linden Bathroom Shelf
We got this at the outlet which is why the cost was super low. If you are interested it’s still available at Pottery Barn. Not sure how it wound up at the outlet but grateful it did!
15. Bath Hook
Perfect inexpensive hooks to hold your robe or towels as they dry. From Magnolia Home which is a super cute home decor collection at Target.
16. Tension Shower Curtain Rod
A simple white shower bar will do the trick in a budget-friendly bathroom makeover. Nothing fancy here.
17. Curtain Rings for Bathroom
One of the best rings to buy because they close completely. Other rings have open ends but we find those do not stay on. If you don’t want to fuss with your shower curtain rings these are perfect.
18. Textured Striped Shower Curtain
We love that this shower curtain has the touch of black going through so it ties back the black in the floor tile.
19. Microfiber Fabric Shower Liner
Add a shower liner to protect your decorative curtain so it lasts longer and does not stain.
20. Delta Faucet Held Shower Head with Hose
One of the best handheld showerhead options because the power will be the same if not better than the standard showerhead. That is according to the rep I spoke to when deciding which to buy.
21. Single Flush Elongated Toilet in White
Not an area to splurge in a budget bathroom but awesome for a luxury remodel. If you have no budget we are obsessed with the wall-mount versions. Sadly that style was way out of our budget.
22. Shower Drain
This style is for the tile floor, not the pan shower floor.
In conclusion, just because your budget is low you can still have fun with your small bathroom remodel. I hope this gave you ideas and inspiration to get started today!
