I had been searching for the perfect living room rug for Willow House for a while now. Thanks to RugsUSA the hunt is over!
After looking at hundreds of rugs I narrowed it down to two options that are currently in my home. Below are all the contenders I considered as I worked through the process.

Affordable Modern Abstract Rugs
The rug I was sourcing needed to be large, modern, and neutral. After measuring the space I decided the perfect size rug would be approximately 10’x13′.
This size would be half under the sofa and extend out a few feet from the fireplace. See below for an image of the current situation. For the longest time, I kept the faux hide rug under the coffee table.
I went back and forth on having a custom (almost square) rug under the entire sofa. It would have looked beautiful but when I priced it out it was almost $3000.
That was way out of my budget so I decided to wait. Waiting turned out to be a blessing because I was contacted by RugsUSA to become an affiliate!
I searched the site for the perfect rug. After much consideration, I landed on these two rugs.
Both rugs are 10’x13′ and have a neutral abstract design. Either would look fabulous but I’m leaning toward the gray broken lattice area rug.

1. Gray Ruby Distressed Mist Abstract Area Rug
This rug is full of texture and pattern which is just what I was looking for to complete the space. The power-loomed rug has a timeless vintage vibe that is great for the modern contemporary home.
It has a soft texture, is pet friendly, and is easy to clean. The abstract rug is available in three colorways, multiple sizes, and shapes. There’s definitely one perfect for your home.
For my space, I ordered the 10’x13′ size which is ridiculously affordable. If you have been sourcing this size rug you know how expensive they can be.

2. Gray Broken Lattice Abstract Area Rug
The second rug I ordered was this modern abstract design that I’m super excited about. At the moment I’m thinking this is the one based on the room image.
It coordinates with the design of the pillows and has a neutral but interesting vibe. I love the contrast of the abstract lines against the lighter background.
I ordered the 10’x13′ in this pattern as well. If you need a different size click the link because there are so many to choose from.
This abstract area rug also comes in three other colorways. It’s available in rectangle, square, oval, round, or as a runner.
Clearly, this area rug design is a popular style since it comes in so many choices!
UPDATE: We chose the abstract area rug for our modern living room and love how it turned out! The grey tones and subtle patterns add movement and interest to the neutral space.
It’s super soft underfoot and adds warmth to the space for a cozy vibe. There is a rug pad underneath which makes it extra cushy.

3. Black Abstract Rug Rainfall
Love the look of this ombre abstract rug but it was more contrast than I was looking for. It also did not come in 10’x13′ so there was that too. For my space 1″ will make a difference so I decided against the 10’x14′ option.
This rug comes in multiple shapes, sizes, and two colorways. The machine-made rainfall rug is made of 100% polypropylene for easy maintenance. It has textured highs and lows for added interest.

4. Silver Splatter Abstract Rug
This contemporary rug was definitely a contender but I really think the 10’x14′ will be too wide in my living room. The next size up and down won’t work either so this one was out.
It does come in multiple sizes, shapes, and three colorways so it’s a great option for another space. This rug will add a serene vibe and create a focal point in your space.
Made from durable synthetic fibers it’s perfect for those with pets or small children.

5. Light Gray Textured Abstract Area Rug
You’ll add a touch of sophistication to your living room design with this abstract modern rug. As much as I love the look of this one it’s not available in the size I need.
It does come in multiple sizes but in only rectangle or runner shapes. Choose between the blue or light gray colorway when placing your order.
This rug will add texture and style to any room it’s in. It’s a great option for any modern contemporary living space.

6. Beige Mottled Abstract Rug
If you are looking for a neutral rug that’ll go with any style design this one is for you. The abstract design combines ivory, shades of grey, and gold for the perfect backdrop.
It’s made of long-lasting synthetics and is available in multiple sizes and shapes. This affordable area rug is awesome for anyone just starting out but looking for a rug to last many years to come.
The size in this one was 1″ over what I needed but I do love the pattern so much!
7. Gray Faded Abstract Washable Area Rug
Another fabulous style that didn’t come in my size lol. I do LOVE the fact that it’s washable!!
How awesome is that?!
It’s available in multiple sizes and shapes at super affordable prices. The one-piece design is pet and kid-friendly.
This area rug has a soft texture, nonslip backing and it’s machine washable!! I had to mention that again because I’m OBSESSED with it.
Too bad the color and size don’t work for my space but it’s great for anyone looking to add a pop of blue to their design.

8. Splash Abstract Area Rug
Either colorway in this abstract rug is awesome to add style and personality to your interior design. It’s full of texture and drama that’ll make a statement in your home.
The sleek modern design has a firework pattern full of hues of gold and silver. It’s made of synthetic fibers that’ll last for many years to come.
If you are after a bold look this abstract area rug is for you!
Unfortunately, the sizes didn’t work for me but there are so many to choose from depending on your needs.
9. Light Blue Abstract Vintage rug
Again both the size and color don’t work for me but I do LOVE the pattern of this abstract area rug. It has beautiful contrasting shades that are great for making a statement in your living space.
This rug is perfect for areas with moderate foot traffic and is made of 100% Polypropylene. No matter the space this rug is awesome for creating a focal point and adding personality.
