The neutral creme couch in this design is the Fresno Sofa from Arhaus. It has a curved silhouette, foam cushion, and elastic webbing frame.
The stock fabric is an ivory boucle but there are several other custom fabrics and colors to choose from.
If you’re scared of a light couch you can choose one of the performance fabrics instead. Either one will update a dated living room and make a statement.
See below for more details on this fabulous sofa.
How To Design Around A Neutral Sofa
When it comes to designing with neutrals the trick is to layer in loads of texture, pattern, materials, and sheen. This will add interest and dimension so your room does not look boring or flat.
This design has more of a contemporary design style vibe but if you changed the sofa to another silhouette you’d get a different look.
The other way to add interest is by adding a pop color. In this design, the accent color was blue which was pulled in with the chair, pillows, and artwork.
1. Fresno Boucle Sofa
As I mentioned above this boucle fabric sofa will have you relaxing in style. There are so many features to love about this stylish but durable sofa.
It features a low round profile, cozy boucle fabric, and a modern silhouette. The frame is built using flexible elastic webbing beneath the seat cushions making it super comfortable.
The Arhaus Fresno sofa is also made in America which is great for helping the economy to grow. When it comes to sofa construction it’s built to stand the test of time.
Float this sofa in the center of your room or as a pair in larger spaces. Add contrasting navy pillows for interest and a pop of color to your interior design.
1b. Creme Two Cushion Sofa
For those who like a more modern living room vibe, you can change out the Fresno sofa for this one. It has a casual relaxed vibe that is perfect for binge-watching your favorite shows.
This high-performance sofa is made of easy-to-clean but durable Crypton® fabric. No need to worry about accidents because the fabric is made with stain, odor, and moisture-resistant technology.
The frame of this neutral sofa features a no-sag, recycled-steel, sinuous support system beneath the seat cushions. This is a step down from the eight-way hand tie construction but it’s still super durable.
Either Arhaus sofa is perfect for everyday living and entertaining.
2. Crystal Chandelier
A chandelier is the jewelry of your space and this one will make a statement. It features 6-lights and has an antiqued silver finish with rows of teardrop crystals.
This crystal chandelier would look fabulous in a transitional to glam contemporary space. If you’re looking to create a dramatic focal point add this chandelier to your living space.
3. Navy Blue Velvet Pillow
Adding texture and color is great for creating an interesting design. This velvet blue pillow is just the contrast this design needs.
It’s made of 100% cotton and features an invisible zipper for easy cleaning. Remember to size your pillow fill up by 2″ to get that designer choppable pillow look.
4. Navy Blue Antelope Linen Print Pillow
Along with texture adding patterns to your design will create interest and a sophisticated look. This is one of my favorite go-to prints for any style of design. The subtle pattern is great for adding movement and interest.
This is the perfect update to the classic animal print pattern. Layer this pillow in from of a navy pillow at both ends of the sofa for a finished look.
The beauty of removable pillow covers is you can easily change the look later with a new pattern or pop color.
5. Round Marble Nesting Coffee Tables
The Pottery Barn nesting coffee tables are a fabulous update to the classic rectangle shape. These tables are especially great when you’re entertaining because you can pull them apart for more surface space.
These tables have an antique brass frame with marble tops. The style is great for all my fashionistas looking to add a touch of glam to your design.
The simplified silhouette is awesome for smaller spaces and long conversations with friends.
6. Crystal Table Lamp
Elevate the look of your design with this gorgeous crystal and brass table lamp. The clean white shade and glamorous base will make a statement in your living room.
These are also perfect if you need an update for your bedroom nightstands. Just add artwork or rectangle mirrors behind to complete the look.
7. Parisian Side Table
Since this living room has a neutral color palette adding a pair of black side tables is great for interest and contrast. The gold details tie back to the other elements in the design and help carry your eye throughout the space.
This table features a simple silhouette with two glass shelves that have antiqued silver leaf gilding. The best part is the top shelf doubles as a removable tray for effortless entertaining.
No matter your interior design style this table will level up the look of your living space.
8. Gleaming Primrose Mirror
This mirror has been an obsession of mine for quite some time now. It’s another piece that is like adding jewelry to your living room design. The vintage-inspired mirror has jeweled adornments at its apex and edges.
There are four sizes and finishes in this mirror but I love the gold for this particular design. Add this mirror over your entryway console, leaning against a wall, or over the fireplace mantel.
If you have a smaller space adding a mirror is a great way to make it appear larger.
This mirror is sure to be a show-stopper. Your guests will be impressed and want one for their home too.
9. Performance Velvet Accent Chair
The soft subtle curves of this velvet side chair are perfect for creating a moment in your living room design. Add a pair with a table in the center or one in a corner for an inviting spot to curl up with your favorite book.
The slimline profile is perfect for small spaces and cozy corners. The pop of blue in the side chair and pillows will add interest and flow to this otherwise neutral design.
10. Modern Side Table
By now you know I have a thing for stylish accent tables. I think they are fabulous for adding personality and interest to any space.
There are so many gold accent tables to choose from but I love the marble top with the sculptural metal base of this one. You’ll make a statement with the addition of this modern side table.
11. Zebra Print Area Rug
Even though this area rug is neutral it has so much texture and dimension making it great for adding interest to this design. The faux silk highlights give this rug a slight shimmer and sheen, while the hand-tufted wool offers rich quality and elegance.
This rug is both casual and sophisticated making it perfect for transitional to glam contemporary spaces.
12. Iron Console Table
Having a console table with open spaces like this is awesome for keeping ottomans underneath it. The ottomans can be tucked out of the way for everyday use and then pulled out when guests arrive.
Many console tables have a bar or shelf at the bottom so you can’t create the same look.
This console was inspired by 20th-century modernist art. It features cast iron with sculptural detailing. At 60″ this table is a great length for displaying your favorite home decor.
Add the Anthropologie primrose mirror above this console table to complete the look.
13. Faux Fur Ottoman with Gold X-Legs
This faux fur ottoman is great for adding a touch of glam to your living room. It features a faux fur cushioned seat on a trendy x-leg metal base.
Tuck the 18″ wide ottomans under the console table for everyday styling. When your company arrives pull them out for extra seating. They can also be added in a pair to your living room seating arrangement for texture and interest.
These are sure to provide both functionality and a focal point of color and style to your interior design.
Living Room Update Artwork
14. Night Out Artwork
Artwork is another fabulous way to add drama and style to your design. This giclee print on canvas has a gel brush finish that is sure to level up your home.
I love the sophisticated look of the fashion-inspired art that has all the colors of this palette. The 40″w x 50″h figure print will make an impact on your design.
The artwork is custom-made once you place your order online so there are no cancellations, exchanges, or returns.
15. Beautiful Butterfly Artwork
The beautiful butterfly art is set in a stunning gold frame and will add a natural element to your living space. The blues of the art tie back to the accent color of this living room concept perfectly.
There are other pieces in the series so you may want more than one. The finish is a giclee print on paper set under glass in the solid gold wood frame.
As you can see there are many ways to update your neutral creme couch but this design is sure to inspire you. Whether you have the budget for an entire makeover or just a few pieces there is something for you.
